After a year of uncertainty, we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel for when the coronavirus pandemic will conclude. Multiple vaccines are now being distributed all around the world, and scientists are beginning to feel optimistic about life returning back to normal. After a whole year of struggling financially and mentally, people are at their wits end. They want to return to work, host family gatherings, and book a vacation whenever they please. However, even though things could return to a version of normal soon, Dr. Benjamin Cory Harow wants to remind everyone that the virus still exists and we should still take precautions to keep ourselves and those around us safe.
Harow graduated from Stony Brook University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Chicago. He currently works as an Emergency Medicine Specialist at the West Boca Medical Center in North Palm Beach, Florida. His job specializes in the diagnosis and treatment for patients who are experiencing life threatening conditions such as heart attacks, shock, drug overdoses, or massive bleeding. He has about 20 years of experience in the medical field and has licenses to practice medicine in Florida, Illinois and Massachusetts.
With his level of expertise, Benjamin Cory Harow wants to provide the public some information about how to stay safe and healthy once the pandemic has ended. Some people think that after they have received both shots of the vaccine, that they can just look at Covid-19 in the rear view mirror and never have to worry about it again. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Below are some tips for how to keep your health and safety a priority after getting the vaccine:
Keep Wearing MasksAlthough the vaccines give people 95% immunity to Covid-19, it is still not complete immunity. Even if one person who is vaccinated feels that they are immune, they could still become a spreader and infect others around them. Harow is advising everyone to take the extra precaution and wear a mask after getting vaccinated.
Only Associate with Other Vaccinated IndividualsIt is wise to remain cautious around those who have yet to receive the vaccine. When a person gets vaccinated, it is best two self quarantine for two weeks before meeting up with other vaccinated people. This is a safe way for people to become social with one another again without putting others at risk.
Still Hold Off on Purchasing a Plane TicketDr. Anthony Fauci made a statement about people who want to travel as soon as they are vaccinated. He said, “I mean, if you absolutely have to travel and it’s essential, then obviously, one would have to do that. But we don’t want people to think because they got vaccinated, then other public health recommendations just don’t apply.” Although we are nearing the end of the pandemic, it is not quite over yet.
Dr. Benjamin Cory Harow hopes that people will find these tips useful as we continue to learn more about the coronavirus and how to properly tackle the pandemic once and for all. Even though people are tired of hearing it, we need to continuously follow the CDC guidelines and practice social distancing and wearing a mask. We are not quite at the finish line yet when it comes to the pandemic, but we are getting closer and closer by the day. The more we all collectively do our part to prevent the spread, we should return to normal life soon.
